Assisted living offers many benefits to families of loved ones who require extra care that they cannot deliver due to other life commitments. When a family member first moves into assisted living, there is a natural transition time in which the new resident adjusts to the new environment, people and routine. During this time, it is often beneficial to allow them some independence in order to facilitate this transition. Eventually, staying connected with family and friends is greatly helpful for their emotional well-being. Keep reading as we share some ways our Paragon Assisted Living team helps keep you connected with your loved ones in assisted living.
Regular Family Visits
Paragon Assisted Living offers a flexible visiting policy that allows family members and friends to visit their loved ones anytime without needing advanced notice. This flexibility benefits both parties and increases the number of visitors for our residents. It’s typically busiest in the home first thing in the morning, at noon, and around 5 pm, when the team and residents tend to bathing, dressing and meals. Should you want to visit after 8 pm, we ask that you call in advance so we can be on the lookout and avoid door bells or chimes if some residents have already gone to bed. We aim to make it as easy as possible for you to spend time with your loved ones and to be flexible and accommodating to any schedule.
Communication Tools
In addition to regular visits, we can facilitate access and use of video calls and messaging technology with the help of our patient and caring staff.
Family Involvement in Care Planning
We encourage family members to take a hands-on approach to support their loved one’s care in our community. Continuous feedback is helpful to ensure alignment and the best possible outcomes for our residents.
Special Events and Activities
There has been a multitude of research to suggest that social interaction is as critical – if not more so – than any medical intervention, as it relates to one’s overall health and happiness. That is why we invest in dedicated Activities Coordinators in our communities. These “Chief Joy Officers” ensure that every resident gets robust, daily human interaction. Events and activities are also regularly organized for residents to help combat isolation and foster a balanced social life to boost overall emotional well-being. We host various family-centered events throughout the year, such as family days, holiday celebrations, intergenerational activities, and birthday parties. These give the residents something to look forward to and are an excellent way for our residents to remain members of the community.
